A Few Words from Our Members

ISU means creating unity on campus with people of different nationalities to make a worldly community. Since the opportunity to meet people with such various backgrounds and cultures is unique in college, we should embrace it as much as possible :)

I believe that ISU is the organization on campus that promotes awareness of the cultural diversity we have on campus here at Carnegie Mellon University. With such a diverse student body, there are many cultural organizations specific to one culture, but ISU is the only one that is open to people from any cultural background. Being brought up in an international school, I realized the importance of being exposed to many different cultures: our world is a big mix of cultures, and it is important as a member of this big international community to be aware of and appreciate the diversity of this world. ISU does exactly that: lets the CMU community appreciate the cultural diversity we find in our world. ISU to me is the passport to experience the various cultures of the world.

"In Mathematical sets, a union of sets combines the elements of two or more sets.
And that’s how it is with CMU’s International Student Union: We are a union of the personalities, characteristics and uniqueness of members from everywhere around the world, and we want you to be part of our diversity!
In ISU we understand your needs to get acquainted with the crazy college life. And not only will we help you to achieve that, we also want you to have fun in the process!
So if you’re feeling lost with the weird units system, the left-and-right confusion or if you just want to make friends, join us on mailing list, Facebook group or contact us!"
